Drippy mimosa

Another afternoon thunderstorm, this one a bit more exciting than yesterday! W. and I walked up the hill later this evening and the whole world was super muggy and dripping and smelled of mildew, which prompted lots of sneezing. It was incredibly still out, not a leaf stirring, and looking out once we got high enough we could see heavy mist rising through the layers of trees. On the way down a breeze curled around me (W. went the long way home) - minuscule but welcome. Heard a couple owls and possibly some coyotes, or distant music.

Mimosa trees, apparently introduced here in 1745 as an ornamental tree, are pretty but have become invasive. A friend from New Orleans calls them “powderpuff trees.”
