Ffarquhar Branch Line

The home of Thomas the Tank Engine.    This is the real thing.

The Narrow Gauge Railway Museum, based at Wharf Station here in Tywyn, is home to many of Revd W. Awdry's railway models including the Ffarquhar layout.   It's currently set up in the education room after the museum offered enthusiasts the chance to win a day of operating the line in a fundraising auction.  The lucky winners visit on Monday.

So, this really is Thomas, Wilbert's 1948 model engine and one of the two coaches was built by him in 1928 when he was still a boy.   A couple of extra pics show the amazing detail of his modelling.   I have never been a railway modeller but I admire the dedication to detail and these models transport us to another age ..... and for many, to our childhood.

Another late night download that has been assigned to the wrong date!
