Nicky and her Nikon

At lunch

Early this morning Gavin went off to meet Luke for a round of golf. He said it was so quiet on the golf course, I suppose some people are away on holiday and perhaps others have plans for the sporting feast that is happening today with the Wimbledon Men's Final and later the Euro football final. I know a few people who have hired big screen TV's for their back garden to watch the sporting events today with friends. I walked Xena in the woods which was also quiet today, usually on the weekend the car park is quite busy.

After golf we all went out to lunch - we went to an Italian restaurant in the village, it is a 'true' Italian restaurant with all staff being Italian and many of the customers there were also Italian. It is not the kind of place that has a TV in it but the manager apologised and said they had installed one for today in honour of an Italian (Berrettini) making the Wimbledon final, the first time in decades - and of course for the football later tonight. He was also telling us how they cannot get staff in the restaurant and so they cannot open 7 days a week as they had planned, and are only open for 3 full days on a weekend plus 2 further days during the week for dinner only. He said back home (in Italy) people are desperate to work, they have no work there but they cannot come to the UK now due to the new Brexit rules yet in the UK they cannot find staff as no-one wants to work in the restaurant business! Its a difficult situation for the industry.

While we were at lunch we saw Andy Murray walk past, and I wondered if he was going home to watch the Wimbledon Mens' Final or is it too upsetting for him to watch?

Luke went back to London after lunch, Tommy and Inca gave him a lift there and then are going to Inca's home for a few days - they plan to be there in time for the football match later. A friend who is an keen and knowledgeable supporter of football has predicted 3 - 1 to Italy tonight....will England be able to bring it home? Football fever has gripped the nation and we live in hope that England can pull it off.

Some photos at lunch today, and and extra one outside as they were rushing off after lunch. (Yes I know Tommy desperately needs a haircut!)
The extra photo will not load?
