Norway Day 2

After a lovely breakfast with a view frontage Sandvik campsite, we packed up and we’re on the road by 9.30. The weather forecast was pretty bad, snow we decided to do a hike about an hour away, before the rain got going. It was a bit musty, but we bashed on uphill, through rough bush and lichen, to a plateau about 200m up. There were really a lot of sandflies and midges accompanying us, so we had to walk very fast.
There wasn’t much of a view, but was nice to be out, and we just got back to the car before the rain really started. We covered about 300km, stopping for lunch in Geilo, a major ski town, then to stop to admire many fjord views on the way. After stopping for shopping at Gaupne, we drove the last 30 km through Josterdal, almost dry now, with a steaming river. I think the river was steaming as the water was glacier melt water, and the air temperature was about 16 degC.
The campsite at Gjerde is really nice, probably with the best facilities and the friendliest owner, in Europe. The kitchen even has a dishwasher.
