First wattle sighting

There are hundreds of species of wattle. If it's yellow, it's probably wattle. I spotted this one that has burst into flower since I walked that way two days ago.

Golden wattle (Acacia pycnantha) is the floral emblem of Australia  That’s why our national colours are green and gold. If ever we manage to agree on a national flag that’s not based on the union jack, wattle will probably feature on it.
