"Celebrating The Irish"

.....St.Patrick's Day, Ireland's National Day - and we, in the southern hemisphere are a few hours ahead of those in "Ireland Land" - and we have been celebrating St.Patrick's Day here - in our yesterday - but now it is your turn to do so - on the 17th March, and we wish the Irish folk a very happy St.Patrick's Day..

.....I thought I would put a post on here of an old map, or part thereof, as I couldn't fit it all successfully on here.

This is 50 years old and if you look carefully, at this fascinating map of some of the Irish counties - it contains many of the surnames traditionally connected with those counties. I wonder if yours is there..

......Fifty years ago - there was an estimated 3.5 million Australians whose hereditary links can be traced back to the ancient shores of Ireland...

..... My John's family, 3 generations ago came from the county of Tipperary, they were breeders of Irish hunter horses and and the g.greats lived to the ripe old age of 100 - not bad in those days...the patriach still riding his horses in the local Show. His son died at the age of 99. What a strong race they are..and how important they have been as well, in helping to build our Australian colony..
