Walking in a watercolour

Up early and played tag driving to Ullapool just behind X and S who we followed via interactive map. Beautiful drive.  Ullapool was sunny with no sign of the high winds that had worried me for the crossing.  We sat on deck with the dogs all the way across to Stornoway.

Visited the Stones of Callanish on Lewis on the way down which we’d always wanted to see - smaller, more slender than Brodgar but with an  intricate pattern.  Crossed into Harris through a haar , lit up by sun which was ethereal.

Lovely to be back at Scarista but the wind really picked up when we walked on the beach. We were screeched at by arctic terns protecting their nests.   It felt like we were walking in a watercolour.  M FaceTimed her parents from Ireland where she was sitting in blazing sunshine.  We felt as if we were talking from a different season

Fabulous dinner, terrine, local scallops beautifully cooked, raspberry sorbet with hazelnut meringue.  Encouraged X to speak to George who works here in Gaelic.  Some connection!
