Saturday: Marmalade Hover Fly and Purple Cornflowe

Lots of heat and sunshine, may have been the hottest day so far this Summer, around 25°C here all day.
Had all my meals outdoors again.
One gardening job a day: today I cleared a part of the deep veggie patch which the carder bees had taken over last year
https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2705516530564595973 - no sign of them this year BUT one of last year’s runner beans has reappeared. Cleared everything around it, including one of the Collards - lots of tender clumps of kale-like leaves which will be eaten fresh and the rest frozen. After putting some support for the beans, mulch of manure and can full of “smelly water” crossing my fingers the slugs won’t find them!
Think this is a marmalade hover fly in today’s blip, not sure about the cornflower, can’t find the label :-((
MrD has put a motor on his push bike, got himself a helmet this morning and went for a very long ride this afternoon - came back hungry!
When I was saying “goodnight” to the runner beans, tomatoes & courgettes a large white bird flew over, an Egret!
Stay safe & healthy & happy everyone :-)
Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
