Walk to Bali

Today was our walking group’s Eat Your Way Around the World walk, and we walked to Bali - Bali Nights restaurant, to be precise.  We walked just over 12km in total, through city and suburban streets.  As we walked up Queen Street in the central city we saw the farmers protesting (see extra) against the Government because they believe they’re being unfairly treated as a result of legislation to clean up the environment, amongst other issues. We walked past Sky Tower and through Western Park (both in the main blip), where there were replica pieces of “old” buildings dotted on the grass.  The restaurant was small, cheerful and friendly and we enjoyed a delicious lunch.  We stopped for coffee at a café on Ponsonby Road and sat out the back enjoying the sunshine in peace and quiet, just a few steps away from a very busy road.  Bliss.  Also in the extra is a mailbox framed by giant pencils and a beautiful white Magnolia in full bloom, both of which we saw as we walked through suburban Herne Bay on our way back to Britomart to pick up our transport home.  A thoroughly enjoyable day.
