Garden: Flügel's New Face

Flügel has moulted into eclipse plumage (non-breeding plumage), so no longer has his contrasty bib, collar, and pewter-y head plumage AND no longer has his cute curly tail feathers... It has been interesting to see his metamorphosis, and his face has now developed clearly mallard-duck-pattern markings with the low eye stripe and contrasting supercilium above.
He was so sleepy that I could get as close as I wanted with the macro lens, although he kept opening one eye to check on me.
