Mad dogs & orienteers..

The last of our "O" club's Summer events, in the grounds of the Royal Hospital School, on one of the hottest days of the year, with temperatures in the mid to upper 20s C.

It was good to have a look at the site - about 200 acres on the Stour Estuary at Holbrook. Impressive buildings, playing fields & views, but still with some wilder areas! The school was originally based in Greenwich, developed for boys from seafaring families, & moved to its present site in the 1930s. It's now a co-ed boarding school but retains its naval traditions - it has its own parade ground & the replica of a ship's bow, complete with figurehead. The latter was one of our control points, of course!
