The final push

Chester's 10K race was today in blistering heat and beating  sun. I was at the top of an incline as the runners turned for the last couple of hundred metres to the finish line. I wasn't there long, but there were three collapses as they reached the final turn. They all had assistance to complete the course from the volunteers after first aid treatment. No spectating was allowed, but there was still an excellent atmosphere from the superb volunteers. Well done them and all the other 'Phils' that got out of bed this morning to run for charity in Chester and elsewhere.
