White Light

What first caught my eye were the light circles against the dark trunk of a fallen tree and I set about trying to make an image that showed them off to their best.

I decided to let the bounced light bleach out to white with no detail. To be honest it would have been an uphill struggle to do otherwise. But also, it suited the graphical nature of the image, although I wasn't quite ready for stark blacks and allowed shadow detail to remain.

Of course, in photography we have to work with physical objects and how the light interacts with them, but I'm always looking for shapes and colours and textures. It's those elements that we innately respond to, albeit each of us has our own reaction.
