Butterfly Weather

Quite a few more butterflies flitting about today than of late. I got lots of shots of my favourite Essex skippers but posted one of those yesterday. This fresh-looking large skipper was posing on a hogweed seedhead. The large skippers were the first of the skippers to appear and I've seen plenty of very tatty-looking specimens today.

I've added the first decent image of a gatekeeper that I've managed this year to extras. An iconic butterfly of high summer.

After nine Ollie dog and I saw our first painted lady of 2021 when we were on our evening walk. I hope I can spot and photograph one of these beauties tomorrow.
