Seeing Beyond Looking

Over the lake to Thonon

A fabulous day - though definitely on the hot and sweaty side at 29C. Jean and I went over the lake to the town of Thonon-les-Bains in France. It's a spa town, bigger than Evian and also further away. It takes about 45-50 minutes by boat to get there, according to speed.

When you get to the port, there's a funicular that can be taken up to the top of the town, or you can walk up a fairly steep path.

Main shot: Red-sailed sailing boat.
I could have put any of the photos up as the main, but there was something peaceful and lovely about this little boat and the red reflections of the billowing sail in the water helped me decide!
We strolled through the pedestrian streets and had a delicious fish lunch on an outside terrace.

Extras:
- The view from the town, overlooking the funicular rails and the lake and port. Lausanne is on the other side of the water.
-  The beautiful steamboat in Ouchy, on the Swiss side. As you can see, it's called 'Lausanne'!
- View from the back of the boat on my way back to Ouchy. I love watching the Swiss flag flapping with the speed of the boat.
