Sole goujon

It was not the sort of weather that equated well with being indoors at a laptop. Michelle and I sought outdoor opportunities at opportune moments.

After work we headed to Newhaven harbour and got fish and chips from somewhere Michelle has frequented before. She was on the sole goujons and mushy peas, whilst I tucked into some haddock.

Edinburgh has a marvellous series of walking and cycling paths reclaimed from closed urban railway lines. We couldn’t think of any better final night activity than using said thoroughfares to arrive at Cafe Piccante close to the city centre. This place is an Edinburgh mainstay that serves up deep fried Mars bars, so we bought one and ate it with ice cream. Awfully unappetising to the eye, but it tastes like a chocolatey orgasm in batter.

We both finally collapsed on our respective beds, feeling very full of grease and somewhat queasy. We agreed the fried curried cauliflower florets may have been one fried element too many.
