Tombs with a view

I did a lot of ambling today, ambling that sought to avoid the heaviest of crowds around Edinburgh. It mainly focused on the Holyrood area and finding quiet spots to chill on Whinny Hill, rather than take part in the procession of walkers trailing up to Arthur’s Seat.

I ambled from there to the imposing entrance of Holyrood Palace and up to the New Calton Burial Ground. I like its label of ‘tombs with a view’. The freshest part of the day was in late afternoon, nestled on Calton Hill and enjoying the views over the city.

This city is legendary.
