Behind the Falls

In Springbrook National Park, the Twin Falls walking track passes behind this waterfall. The rock face on the left is part of the eroded Tweed Volcano caldera I blipped about yesterday. In the forest on the right, the most impressive tree is Brush Box (Lophostemon confertus).

The extra, 'Over the Edge', is the same creek immediately upstream where it plunges over the edge of the Springbrook escarpment. In the distance are some fleeting glimpses of high rise buildings on the Gold Coast - personally, I prefer to avert my eyes.

This morning was exceptionally cold for this part of the world. Higher elevations in southern Queensland recorded zero degree (Celsius) temperatures.

And covid is in resurgence here. The Queensland government today announced that, from very early tomorrow morning, NSW residents like us will no longer be able to cross the border into the northern state. Having already crossed the border we could stay, but our plans always were to go home tomorrow and we'll do that.
