If you can't beat them...

Beauchief Hall

D had a dental appointment so we were left with only E to look after.   She was anxious to go and feed the deer.  SO drinks were packed and apples and carrots for the deer (chocolate Hobnobs for us) and off we set.

It was a very pleasant wander with E chattering away (as is her wont).   The shade through the woods was very welcome.  Beauchief Drive now merely a lane had at one time been an impressive road with at points a high dry stone wall.  A chat with an allotment holder confirmed we were on the right track.  We rounded a corner and there they were, Red deer, presumably the remnants of the deer park from years gone by.  There was a notice inviting us to feed the deer appropriate things, such as we had brought.  The fact there were railings and then a wire fence made shots of the deer difficult, coupled with the fact they came right up to the fence to be fed.

The much shrunken ground of the hall are all that remains of the original estate, the ground now is covered by two golf courses some housing and woodland.  Sheffield is really blessed with the woods scattered round the city.
