Bampton

A happy crowd of opera lovers having their picnic in the warm early evening sunshine in the garden of Bampton Deanery before watching Gluck's rarely performed "Paris & Helen".

A bit more of the garden, backing onto St Mary's Church, in the extra.  The property was bought by a young couple with children during lockdown.  I wonder if they knew that they were also buying the obligation to hold an annual mini-opera festival in the garden?  The magnificent church is Anglo-Saxon, altered by the Normans, with Gothic additions, and is Grade I listed.
