Another Full Day

Sunny and mild with a tiny rain shower, late. Up before 5:00 am to shower and eat breakfast before heading to watch Mancil’s basketball tournament games. I could not pass up that gorgeous Day Lily that welcomed us at the front door. Oh how pleased we were (not) to be there on time but without a ref for the 8:00 game. Things finally got underway after 8:30. Our boys won 60-33, Mancil had 8 points and some great defensive plays. Later, they played a fun scrimmage game since another team was a no show. We won but I did not pay attention to the score; Mancil had a 3-Pt goal. Their second official game started a few minutes late and by the time it was over, I needed a stiff drink even though I don’t. We won 60-55 but it was stressful all the way around. The boys are quite talented and really played their hearts out; Mancil had some phenomenal plays, offensively and on defense with 6 points, a tech and fouling out for the first time. We had a tasty lunch with the two Mancil’s at a small Italian cafe across the street and then went to find our church across the state line into PA where we attended 4:30 Mass. Afterwards, we took a scenic route to find a covered bridge, something we are apt to do when driving through a new area. We’ll finish our subs from lunch and enjoy a nice glass of summer lemony wine with our Kindles this evening. “Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those who sound best” - Henry Van Dyke. Thanks for stopping by.
