Another Sunday Funday

Sunny and very hot with a rain shower. We got up early to pack a picnic before heading to the games. Along the way to and from, I snapped a few shots to share our view. The pic in the top right shows how the Blue Ridge mountains got their name. There are a lot of farms and orchards in this area. It is simply beautiful here. Adjacent to that shot are two pictures showing Mancil in action. One is him making a basket and the other is defending the goal. Who says white boys can’t jump? Early in the first game of the day, he was scooted off the court during a tug for the ball and twisted his ankle. Since that game really did not count, the coach let him rest it. We ate our picnic lunch and enjoyed a nice breeze in the shade. The next game was at the original venue in a nearby town. Mancil had at least 10 points and several saves and his team played hard but it wasn’t enough to win their second game; we were runner up in our bracket for the tournament. Thought I’d also share a photo of the other color day lilies at the community center. On the way back to the camp site, we took a different scenic route and stumbled upon this monument, erected in 1896, and dedicated to correspondents killed in wars. Some folks cry in their beer, we go to DQ to cheer ourselves up. The kids did great but this was their last tournament of the season so a win would have been a nice finale. But, as Alex Morgan said,
"Winning and losing isn't everything; sometimes, the journey is just as important as the outcome." Thanks for stopping by.
