Monica Monarch Takes the Gold!

Yes, you read it hear first - Monica of Team Monarch took the Gold in the Speed Ovipositing Event today.  In a very short period of time, this reporter counted at least 21 "drops" in the Milkweed Arena - the speed was breathtaking and her precision was impeccable.  And if you want to see one of her eggs, carefully left on the underside of a milkweed leaf, see Extra.  Occasionally Monica took quick refreshment breaks (click HERE) to keep her strength up.

Meanwhile, Team Sweat Bee was busy practicing their Precision Pollinating moves (see HERE) in the Gladiola Stadium.  They are looking strong, but it is going to be a very competitive field in this event so it's impossible to predict a winner yet.

Speaking of sweat...this reporter had to take quite a few breaks to cool off.  Although the temps weren't that bad, the humidity was really high so I was happy the cooling station was open!

In non-AOG news, I had a nice long visit on the phone with my parents this morning.  After we talked, they headed out to do an Adventure Lab Cache in Portland while I covered the AOG here in NJ.

Hubs and I watched the skateboarding last night - what fun!  This is the first time skateboarding has been an Olympic Event and I think it's long overdue.  It reminds me a bit of snowboarding in that the competitors are very friendly with each other, part of a community that exists outside of the Olympics.  Missed the surfing but hoping to catch some replays on YouTube.

Remember to tag your entries for 26 July #aog214.  And to see the fabulous reporting on today's events, click the AOG213 tag below.  If you haven't submitted a report yet, what are you waiting for?  C'mon and join the fun!

Dark with dried cherries and a hint of chili today (thanks Wildwood!)
