Mississippi Kite Chick

This little critter has become the darling of photographers and birders around the state of Maryland.  Mississippi Kites are southern birds and rarely if ever seen here, but for whatever reason, a pair built a nest just a few miles from my home here in the D.C. suburbs next to the parking lot of an elementary school, making accessibility and parking very easy, and now there is this adorable chick.  The chick is growing like crazy and its wings are getting stronger and stronger every day.  It soon will fledge.

A couple of other photographers and I tried to estimate how high this nest is and the general consensus was that it is about about 90-100 feet high which makes photography a bit challenging in the heavy foliage.
