Sometimes it is so hot here that, after it rains, water rises as vapor from roofs, parking lots, and streets. 

President Biden has decided that federal employees must get vaccinated or wear masks, socially distance, and take one or two Covid tests a week. I'm relieved because, as we all remember, the masks protect other people from you. They provide precious little protection to you from them. 

Just now the news has come out that members of the military must be vaccinated. 

Increasing numbers of businesses are announcing their employees must be vaccinated. (I hope they all provide paid sick leave for any with rough side effects.)

None of it compares to finding out that there are four different species of cicada killing hornets. I'm not making that up.
