Blow me! a badger

Imagine the shock we got when M unloaded his night camera a to find an image of a badger in our garden at 1 am. Earlier a fox appeared and reappeared at 4 pm.  At this rate we will soon have our own mini wildlife centre. Other wildlife that we have seen are hedgehogs, deer and red squirrels.

If we lived out in the country this would not be unusual. At best the garden could be described as semi rural. We have houses on three sides and a country road on the fourth side, which leads into the nearby Mine woods about 300 yards away.

As for our new cat his character is emerging. He is very gentle, timid and I suspect traumatised from all the upheavals he has been through in his two years. Blipper Things Beautiful pointed out that there is anecdotal evidence of cats being pushed out when the owner acquires a dog, or puppy at the start of lockdown.  This would fit with his back-story.
At some stage he was a very socialised house cat then he spent at least 9 months homeless followed by four months in a cattery so its not surprising he is still in a state of shock. If anyone comes to the house, like today, he panics and runs under a bed where he remained for five hours (I am now busy googling “ traumatised cats”).

Much as I like all the suggestions from fellow Blippers of names like Jasper, Marmaduke and Ollie I guess he is more of a gentle Teddy.

So, many thanks to all Blippers for your suggestions.
