Spikey Seeks Help

The pressure was building on Team Dog when a new player was introduced. The chemistry between Spike and Olive,  just wasn't there. Despite multiple efforts to get them to perform together, their individual talents just weren't compatible. Olive simply wasn't any good at prone gymnastics, nor did she show much talent in the Kong fetching discipline.

When she tried to dominate Spike by standing over his head (as she used to do with Ozzie), Spike was having none of it and fireworks ensued. Team Dog was sent out to the Wildwood arena to work out while Olive was fitted  for a muzzle...the humiliation....

Spike's trainer was sent out to work with him on the choreography for the upcoming fetching trials, but he got 'the twirlies' and was sent to the team counselors to work on his mind/body connection. It is to be hoped that counselors Maya and Owen can give him the confidence he needs to compete. The support and approval he has gotten has been heartwarming. Olive has been disqualified and will leave the venue.

On the human side, it was wonderful to see the whole family again after so long. It was a belated birthday celebration for John who received brownies made by Owen and a bottle of Tim's home brew with special label designed and drawn by Maya. Special instructions were to wait two weeks before consuming the brew and the caution that...'it might be horrible'. Joni's comment was that, 'the house smelled horrible....' reminding me of when John and his friend Mark made home brew in our kitchen (until the 'alien yeast' took over and ruined the process). The house smelled horrible then too, but of course John and Mark didn't think so, and neither did Tim....

It was a great day despite Olive's determination to intimidate Spike...and the rest of us!
