The Wynyard Quarter

My morning trot didn't take me far. I was keener to explore the Wynyard Quarter of Auckland's harbour side than run past it.

Growing up our Sunday afternoon drives often took us to the wharves. Dad trained as a ships engineer in the general area where I've taken these photos.

It's a fascinating area. Old and gritty in places, new and gentrified in others. The bulk oil storage tanks have gone, the fish market is different, upmarket bars and eateries mix with ship brokers, marine outfitters, and engineers.

I found a community garden by the sheds where the trams live and historic Auckland launches and yachts are berthed alongside toys of billionaires.

Today's gratitude: For another day with family.
