Forde Abbey

It was our elder daughter's birthday today so, at her request, we visited Forde Abbey on the Devon/Somerset border.  Forde Abbey is a former Cistercian monastery and is privately owned but partly opened up to the public to visit.  It also has lovely gardens that include a splendid arboretum, several lakes and a massive Chatsworth style fountain.  The weather was changeable with bright sunny periods and some heavy downpours.
