Stroll into Ripon for the artisan market and the brass band playing in the spa gardens - wonderful!

It’s been quite a weekend in Ripon, yesterday saw a reduced St Wilfrid procession followed by concert in the Market Square, culminating in fireworks. And today is Yorkshire Day. and Lammas. Yorkshire Day celebrates our historic county as "a protest movement against the Local Government re-organisation of 1974". Lammas (Anglo-Saxon hlaf-mas, "loaf-mass"), is the festival of the wheat harvest and the first harvest festival of the year. It was customary to bring to church a loaf made from the new harvest. And so the tractors were parked outside the Cathedral.
