A Day In The Life

Day 11

The race we’ve all been waiting for, the 4x400 meter Relay Race. Team Cardinal is currently leading the field with Claire flying the final leg of the race • If you’re unfamiliar with this race, let me review the three most important rules of the relay • One - the red berry must be passed from one teammate to the next within the exchange zone. Or be disqualified • Two - the position of the red berry, and not the competitor’s wing, head or beak determines an out of zone penalty • And, finally, Number Three - Each competitor must remain in their individual lanes. If an avian drifts to touch another in a different lane, that team is automatically disqualified • Today, all eyes are on Team Cardinal. They’ve had the best times coming into this Finals Relay despite this being their very first AOG games. They’re young and they’re hungry! But not too hungry because Rule Four? Don’t eat the red berry! • Let’s get ready to watch Claire as she takes the final corner to begin the “bell” lap, leading Team Bluejay by a mere two seconds!
