Chrysalis

A chrysalis
Hanging
Waiting for a rebirth
A life
Held in stasis
Undergone
A change
My life
By your side
I was
Held in stasis
Awaiting my moment
You wrapped me
In a blanket of false hope
Of expectations
Of a life
Never to be fulfilled
Cuccooned me
Turned me
From me
Into a part of you
A possession
Brought out and displayed
A trophy
Until
Alone
Suddenly alone
My shell
No longer nurtured
No longer
Built up
With layers of your control
Your demands
Cracked
Broke
Released me
And
Suddenly
Freedom
My wings I spread
Open to the sunlight
You left
A chrysilis
Brown
Untouched and unloved
I stand
Resplendant
In my life
Free

I fly

Butterfly
