The Gibberd Garden

I had been meaning to go here for years, and today was the day. Sir Frank Gibberd was the master planner for Harlow new town and bought a house on the edge of the new development. It was an old farm house and he gradually created a garden with loads of art work scattered around the grounds. All very low key and understated, but very attractive as a result. 

It was rescued from private acquisition in the '90's by a group of local enthusiasts who set up a trust and run it on a shoe string. Its well worth a visit. 

One of the garden features is this temporary installation called...wait for it... Blue and Green. Its made of MDF and isn't intended to last. I rather liked it, most of the group didn't. But the fact it provoked a discussion is what it should be about.

A lunch was included and we all ate a tasty salad and chatted in what must have been the old farmyard.
