Poochie

Cloudy and then much needed rain all day. Up early because Trekkie likes breakfast around 6:30 am. My sister wanted to give our mother the gifts we’ve been working on for several months. Our nephew is coming from VA and another sister was at her house for dinner so we could take care of three families with one visit. I still had to attach the small piece of wood to the hoops and my sister needed to glue our note to the pictures; we headed to our mother’s at 2:00 pm with gifts in hand. Our father was diabetic and he craved ice cream. Our mother would find gallons of the stuff hidden in their shed freezer. My oldest daughter’s fondest memories with her grandfather were their trips to the ice cream parlor. My sister and I decided to use Daddy’s shirts to make a memorable gift for every family member. We tried fish, boats, etc but not being expert seamstresses we almost gave up the idea. My hubby drew ornament-sized patterns for us but we couldn’t get the stitching to hold. Then the ice cream cone idea was born and we finally had a workable project. Also, Daddy wore flannel shirts a lot so we decided to make 17 hoops for his children and grandchildren with one of his favorites. We made 39 ice cream cones for the great grands and close friends. To say our mother was touched is an understatement. All the work and stress was well worth it. Now we have to get all the other hoops and cones distributed around the country quickly before the surprise is spoiled for the other families. We wanted Momma to see them first. We got home just in time to go to Mass and the KofC installation. The weather didn’t affect our very successful day. Thanks for dropping by. I hope your weekend was fantastic also.
