Eastern Hercules Beetle ~ Dynastes tityus

Today I found the second Hercules beetle of the year inside our house! Always a fun moment. She was lying on her back, waving her legs - as you do. After taking her photo, I carried her outside and then took her photo when she was right side up. She waddled away soon after. I LOVE these awkward things! But how they wind up inside our house is a total mystery. Thank goodness we have not yet stepped on one. Knock on wood.
