The patches of bright blue sky were short lived as we drove over the Queensferry Crossing as all around were very impressive towering clouds.  It was not long before the windscreen wipers were going at double speed with traffic in front hardly visible during some of several heavy downpours.  Plans to walk up to a hill loch were abandoned and instead when the rain was lighter we just had a short 4 km walk among woods and marvelled at the atmospheric wisps of mist and cloud low down on the mountains and among the trees.
