Brand new

The roadworks in Fabrezan are finally almost complete ... it's the first time in months that we haven't had to engage in the frequently changing magical mystery tour through the maze of narrow back streets, because the avenue de la Mairie was closed to traffic, with the roadworks moving every few weeks.

Someone posted a highly selective photo on Facebook implying that all the plane trees had been removed. Cue outrage. As you can see, it depends on how you frame your photo. The trees outside the mairie are still there, and the pavement there is just as uneven and dodgy as it always was due to the tree roots. But there are a lot fewer potholes in the road.

Lovely swim this morning! No-one else in the pool; all the boys are into poolside chess now. It's been a pleasant temperature with a bit of a breeze, but apparently the heat dome from Africa is heading our way, with temperatures of over 30 degrees predicted. We went into town in the afternoon and stocked up on ice cream. And in the early evening we sat on the bench outside our house with chilled rosé and apero nibbles. Very pleasant.
