Sally Mair - Loving life

Balloon Flower

Today's blip is aimed at Nadine who said she hadn't seen a balloon flower. It's a member of the campanula family I think and I presume these unopened flowers give it is name. It's been in this pot for around 4 years so I guess it's a perennial too! The spotted leaves to the right are a calla lily.
What a change in the weather today compared to yesterday. I was up early up take Ali's car into the garage to have the exhaust checked as it was making a funny noise yesterday - one of the problems of a fifteen year old car. We were prepared for the worst when they phoned however they said it was a bit noisy but no leaks, so that's saved a bit of money much to Ali's delight. They checked the tyres and fixed the pressures too all for no charge, makes a nice change.
We popped out to the Gyle before lunch and sat in the sun having a coffee.
Back home and spent some time in the warm sunshine in the garden. We're expecting rain again for the next few days so it was nice to bask for a while.
I picked up the girls after their activities again and took them home for tea. Isobel had had a lovely last day with her friend and was quite upbeat about it all. Apparently they are getting a taxi to the airport tomorrow then hopping onto a plane.... I smiled at that one. The nursery staff were all rather touched by the girls friendship. When we went to pick up Eilidh the after school club staff, who are staying the current holiday club greeted Isobel and chatted away to her about her joining them, just next week, when she starts school. She is lucky to be so familiar with it all, it means she's very confident about her transition to her new environment.
After dinner we watched the first episode of Baptiste, Colin says we watched it before but I think I must have fallen asleep as I didn't remember much of it at all.
Keep well everyone.
