Running Riot

Gardening day.  This morning with the neighbours discussing the new planting for some of the beds in the courtyard garden.   Then a long afternoon at the allotment.  The runner beans (pole star) remind me there are so many beautiful edible plants.  I'm not a huge fan of runner beans so for the last couple of years we've left most of the pods and seeds inside to grow on and then pick them in October when the pods are crisp and brown.  The seeds look so attractive, store well and are great in stews and soups over the autumn and winter.
