Hey, You - Get Offa My Patch

It was all aggression this afternoon up at the park.
There were about 20 greylag geese there and the cob mute swan was having his work cut out chasing them all away from his pen. He totally ignored the seagulls, ducks, coots and moorhens so it wasn't his food supply that he was worried about.

The coots had their own wars to contend with. Not against another species, but between their own kind. The colour-banded one sat it out quietly as usual on the tarmac. the others were posturing, peeping and darting forwards to any other coot that came near. Today at least, none progressed to kick-boxing.

This one is in a threatening posture.

Finally, thanks to Stevie378 for subscribing to my journal this evening. He also blipped coots, but much more serene ones.
