Front Door of Melkey Meeting House........

I drove to the Melkey meeting House, which in the late 1700's- early 1800-s meant  a place of worship.  This is the second meeting house, the first one having been moved by the parishioners when the congregation split.   The first meeting house has been lost.
This is the second meeting house, built by the parishioners.  It is the original  log cabin, still standing.  It is rough hewn logs, with sand plaster or mud, as it was called then.  The logs are rough, with the marks from the axes as they were made to fit.     Extra 1 is the long side of the log building.  The floor is uneven and rough, the windows leak air and light, the pulpit was located on the side so everyone could see the speaker.
2.: The 2nd extra is the headstone of the sister of Daniel Boone.   Apparently, records indicate that she left the family homestead to be with the man buried beside her.  The memorial wreath is placed every year by two great, great granddaughters that are still living today.

It was a long drive across Kentucky to get from Lexington to the Meeting house, and then over to my nest stop, the Perryville Battlefield.   It was 4 pm when I arrived.  To late to visit and enjoy my time, I went to find a new bed to sleep in tonight and get some early super, after I post this Blip!
