Nice Middleton Bridge Project

This is a view of the construction of the new Potomac River Bridge, which connects Southern Maryland to Dahlgren, Virginia.
The Dahlgren side is home to a Naval Ordnance base. Before construction could begin, it needed to be confirmed that there were no unexploded ordnance in the riverbed. Underwater surveys found 1,600 "anomalies" that they had to check out. They sent out 4-man teams with metal detectors to find the objects and then dig up to 18 inches down to identify the objects.  They said that most of the anomalies turned out to be crab pots and other metal objects.
I am glad to know that we are not the only ones to lose a crab pot!
