Holly go lightly

Sunday 15th August 2021                    (backblip)

Although it was cloudy & very breezy we decided to go for our walk.

About 10 minutes into the walk the sun came out ...... that warmed things up a treat! In fact we were a little overdressed!

We saw quite a few Swallows & House Martins flitting about.

There were also three juvenile Grey Wagtails ...... first time we've seen them around here! Unfortunately they were quite a distance away so the photos weren't very clear.

A Buzzard was soaring overhead & the Goldfinches were twittering away :-)

We also saw a Small Copper butterfly ..... I spent quite a while trying to get a photo of it ...... either the wind would blow ..... or it would fly off to a different flower as I pressed the shutter ...... never did manage to get a shot of it but great to see it :-)

We spotted several Common Darters enjoying the warmth high in the trees :-)

Then as we were heading back we saw this rather tatty Gatekeeper & then spotted this Holly Blue ..... hope you like my choices :-)

We were almost home when the sun disappeared behind some ominous clouds!

Stay safe everyone :-)

Hope to have time to catch up with you all today (Monday) .... please bear with me :-)
