Life through the lens...

The unexpected

All went well at the dentist’s. No problems.
However Reena suggested I have two small fillings on my top front teeth replaced, so booked an appointment for the 31st August.
As it is NHS the price wasn’t too painful!

We then drove to RSPB Fairburn Ings for a picnic lunch.
Still some areas closed, and so we drove to the far end and parked in the village.
A walk down to Charlie’s Hide ( see view from the hide. 1st extra) which had reopened since we were there last.
Not expecting to see much at this time of year, but how wrong can you be.
First spotted a great crested grebe on a nest in the middle of the lake.
Later she went into the water and I was delighted to see she was followed by 4 little “ humbugs” so that is my main blip.
Then a Spoonbill waded out from the reeds and flew off, followed by an egret. Not able to get a photo.
Lots of dragonflies, and a kingfisher surprised us by landing on the rushes right in front of us.
Difficult lighting, so the shot, not a very good one, is in the extra collage along with the cormorant, and another shot of the grebe family.
As always when it comes to nature, expect the unexpected.
A much warmer day than we expected too, with some nice sunshine.
So a good day all round.
