Loch Gloomond

I had to go down to Paisley today and we stopped briefly for a picnic lunch at the viewpoint at Inveruglas at the head of Loch Lomond. Busy roads, busy car park, toilets closed and a row of horrible, smelly Portaloos instead! The cloud was low and drizzle in the air so the view wasn't the usual amazing one, but quite dramatic in its own way!

I have a horrible feeling that this is going to be a moaning, Blip! I imagine that people come from all over  place to enjoy the Bonny, Bonny Banks of Loch Lomond, but I was ashamed to be reminded of mile after mile after mile of rusty crash barriers, litter beside the road, dirty road signs and in the high parking spot which normally has a wonderful view of Ben Lomond, hundreds and hundreds of fag ends. The litter bin had beautiful posters telling people to look after lovely Loch Lomond, but all the rubbish was over the other side where the cars park. It's only the good folk who walk across to the litter bin who see the sign asking them to use it!

What's wrong with us? Have we no pride in our beautiful countryside?
