Raspberries

We booked a slot at Craigies farm for 10am to pick raspberries, some for jam, some to freeze and some to eat.

I was rather disappointed in the fruit, though, they picked as ripe but were pale in colour and, of the three I sampled, rather watery with little flavour. They all seemed the same, so there was no use in dodging between rows looking for better.

Our total collected was near 8kg, rather more than I'd expected so the afternoon was spent making enough room in the freezer, deciding how much to allocate to each purpose and setting those to freeze on trays. Suffice to say, we ate well this evening.

The jam fruit is cooked but it was getting late so will be finished tomorrow, using commercial pectin to ensure it sets.
