Buchan Ness Lighthouse

Buchan Ness or Boddam lighthouse was built to a design by Robert Stevenson and came into service in 1827. It is constructed from granite, painted white with red bands and stands 35 M high on a rocky islet adjacent to the village of Boddam, south of Peterhead. A causeway connects it to the shore. The lighthouse has been automated since 1988 and the beam has a range of 28 miles.
