Swimming turtle

Wednesday
After several gloomy wet days, it was nice to wake up to some sunshine this morning. Roger was meeting up with some of his ex colleagues for their monthly lunch, but some of them were meeting at the Monkey Bar and Grill by the bike trail at 9.45 for a bike ride first. He was cycling with some fairly serious cyclists, so he got a good stiff ride in - almost 30 miles, which I’m sure he found satisfying, since recently our bike rides together have been on the tandem, because of my broken fingers. They are improving in mobility and strength, but not yet to the point I think I could use the brakes on my own bike. Laura was out at the Learning Centre from 9 - 10.40, but then was free until 4pm, so we had decided to treat ourselves to brunch at Toast and Berry down in Montgomery, which I have been wanting to try for quite a while, followed by hiking at Rowe Woods. Brunch was great - it’s a very popular place, we still had to wait a little while for a table, even during the week. The hiking was less successful - it wasn’t me that fell, but Laura - she slipped on some loose gravel/stones at the edge of the trail, and got a nasty graze, so we had to return to the Visitor centre so she could clean it properly, as there was quite a bit of dirt around it. We were able to get a cleansing wipe and a plaster from the desk. We did go out again, but her knee was rather sore and the large plaster made it difficult to bend, so we only went fairly slowly and not too far. Not too much photo- worthy today, except for a couple of turtles on a log, and a couple swimming in the lake. We also saw a pileated woodpecker in the woods.
