True to form when on holiday, S managed to lose a crown off one of his teeth on day 1. Amazingly he was able to get an appointment with a dentist a mere 50 km away for today, to get it stuck back on. So he and I went to Sort this morning for his appointment.

We don't normally go along the valley of the Noguera Pallaresa, but it seems to be the rafting capital of Catalonia. Every second vehicle that passed had rafts or kayaks on the roof, and the river was thick with folks having fun.  In Sort itself there was a positive traffic jam of rafts and mini kayaks coming down the rapids. The little kayaks seem to be basically unsinkable; turn them over and they just bounce back up again, so even small children were having fun (see extra).

After watching them we headed to the nice tapas place we last visited seven years ago, joining an eager queue of people waiting for it to open. It is still very good; we enjoyed four simple but excellent tapas between us plus a couple of desserts and very good coffee.

Back at the ranch it was siesta time. The promised thunderstorm did not arrive, but G and A's friend G had got here last night, so we were five for dinner -- shakshuka cooked by me, and nectarines and rice pudding cooked by A.
