Keld

We cleaned up the cottage and said goodbye to Yorkshire this morning.
We meandered through the lovely Yorkshire Dales as we headed towards the little hamlet of Keld in Swaledale.

When I was a teenager, the youth group from our URC church in Durham stayed in these buildings for weekends away. In those days, they functioned as bunk-barns for church youth groups.

Nowadays, the buildings house the Keld resource centre.
It’s a beautiful part of the country and I remember going for hikes along the valley.
Happy memories.

Then heard exciting news from youngest - she passed her driving test, first time this morning:)

We motored on, had lunch in Kirkby Stephen, browsed some shops in Gretna Green and arrived in Hamilton for an overnight stop.
I was born a few miles from here and lived in Hamilton itself from 6 months old to 6 years.
Nando’s for dinner.
Time to sleep!
